Application

Coshocton County Youth Leadership Class of 2027 is accepting applications NOW!

Why apply?

“CCYL has been a truly life changing experience for me. I have learned so much about myself and have grown as a person throughout my time in the program. I learned what type of leader I am and how it impacts my life and ability to lead. Both my peers and the staff of CCYL genuinely want to be there and have a passion for what they do. It is truly inspiring. I feel as though my public speaking abilities have improved immensely due to the exposure in the program. It made me a more confident and defined person.

Every program day is different, but you are guaranteed to get something out of each one. You learn things from the history of Coshocton to how Pearl Valley makes cheese. It’s fascinating to see the people behind all of the things that keep Coshocton alive. It made me appreciate my hometown more than I ever have. What we have here is special, and this program has shown me that.

Arguably the most important aspect of CCYL is the Coshocton Foundation’s Pay It Forward Project that each member completes. The Foundation gives $100 to each youth and tells them to make a difference. This can be done simply by donating the money or using said money to collect more funds. The project is all about helping your community and demonstrating philanthropy, things that are so important yet seem very lost in the modern era. My Pay It Forward was able to help individuals who needed food through my church’s food pantry, and I was very grateful for all the support I received.

If you have a kind heart, are hard working, and care about your community CCYL is most definitely for you. It is a great way to learn more about the place you live in and how to help build a better community and world.”

-Emily Maple, Ridgewood High School, CCYL Class of 2025

“There are many reasons why a student should apply for Coshocton County Youth Leadership.  One of the most important ones to our group leader, Mrs. Gosnell, is public speaking.  I know that some of my fellow members said that their confidence improved because Mrs. Gosnell had us speak in front of others and present our projects to the class.  One of my favorite parts was learning about our community and seeing how it has grown and changed in the past and how it is changing and growing in the present.  I got to meet many leaders and innovators from our community and we learned how each one was doing their part in the community.  Another important thing we learned was HOW to be a leader.  There are many different parts of leading and many different ways to lead, and we learned about each of them and how to embrace them all.  I was able to make friends from other schools because this program connected me with them.  CCYL can also have an impact on college applications as well as other applications one might come across.  It can be proof of one’s desire to learn and lead, and maybe show your capabilities better than just a transcript or a test score.”

-Jensen Cunningham, Ridgewood High School, CCYL Class of 2025
